I spent the weekend at my grandma’s, avoiding coping, doing some retail therapy and working on some old photos.
I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ve been working on this project for almost a year now – replacing all my old costume pictures with larger, better versions. It’s a long project when you have as my costumes and costume photos as I do.
I finally got to one costume I’d been excited to dig into – my 3rd version of my Padme lake gown. These took foreeeeeeever because I was surprised by how many there were – and how much work they needed. The costume was tricky to photograph because of the delicate colours in the dress, and ended up looking weird due to me trying to fix the lighting while trying to keep the dress looking ok.
Most of my Comic Con indoor pics had a green tint to them that made everything on the dress look strange, and my hack-handed attempts to correct them and get them uploaded originally were not very effective. They’re still not perfect but they are much better than they were. Plus, bigger!
Also bigger better versions of some of the outdoors photos.
And finally I tackled the backdrop photoshoot pictures. There were a TON of these. Probably around 200 photos to go through. They were underexposed and my original way of “fixing” that just left them too contrasty which did not look great. I took my time with them and I’m pretty happy with the results.
Outside of costumes, here’s 3 new Disney shirts I picked up this weekend, in preparation for our Disney trip next year! Sorry for the giant instagram link, I’m too lazy to reupload it to flickr.
Tinkerbell came from Target. I’m generally not a big Tinkerbell fan (I don’t dislike her at all, I enjoy the fairy movies – she’s just never been my thing) – but this shirt was SO pretty I could not pass it up. The two Frozen shirts came from Kohl’s. Olaf is made of sequins! That’s what I’m going to wear on Christmas! And I loved the Elsa one since it was the artwork rendition of her. I was actually trying to decide between the Olaf and the Elsa – but my grandma said get both, so I did. haha.
You know, a while back – couple of years ago, I guess – I had made a decision to stop buying “geeky” clothes and start buying more “grown-up” clothes. No more shirts with Disney characters or Adventure Time or Harry Potter or He-Man or whatever. No more teefury shirts. And it never really worked out. I gave up somewhere along the way. I’ll keep wearing my geeky stuff, thanks. Screw dressing like a grown-up.
